I graduated from industrial engineering at the University of Toronto, with a music performance minor and engineering leadership certificate. I enjoy working with people and technology, so I am exploring careers in human factors, UX design, business analysis, project management, or software development. My skills include user experience (UX) design, teamwork, and individual work, which I elaborate on below.
UX design is mostly associated with software and the technology associated with it, but it is one area of the broader category of human factors design. Their common goal is to design technology to work for people, rather than expecting people to work around the technology. Design occurs over multiple iterations, each starting with understanding the problem, then developing design alternatives, followed by evaluating and testing the design.
Teamwork is the process where individuals collaborate to achieve a common goal. Everyone's personality, ideas, and skills are unique making each team distinct, so a good team creates a safe space where everyone feels comfortable contributing not only their best work but also their deeper thoughts. Individual work is done alone, but still involves other people who may set the requirements, provide consultation, or use the deliverable. Acting with integrity, being responsible, and communicating clearly are crucial.
Check out the PatientConnect App, RACER Website Redesign, and Health App for Tanvas that I was involved in to see how I apply principles of design, teamwork, and individual work. If you will be working with me, feel free to check out my User Guide to Working With Wing and I look forward to meeting you!
We designed and built an immersive VR world controlled by a piano MIDI keyboard using Unity.
We researched the problem in healthcare systems of communicating critical test results, then designed an app to help patients receive better care.
We designed and built a consumer information site for EVs available in Canada, allowing users to search and compare cars, and also create an account and log in to save cars to their wish list.
We investigated the RACER inter-library loan website to understand the tasks users perform, then we redesigned, prototyped, and evaluated our design for improved usability.
We explored the applications of TanvasTouch® surface haptics, then applied it to redesign part of the Health app for visually impaired users.
Got too much time on your hands? Learn to juggle with Mech’s and Indy’s this Saturday, January 9 at 8PM EST on Zoom (link in bio) 🤹♀️🤹♂️ All you need is 3 things you can throw and catch (or drop) like balls, beanbags, potatoes, oranges, socks, etc. Once you get the hang of it, you can try more balls, different objects, and harder patterns!
How’s your fall study break been? This is the time to take a break from screens, go outside, and have some fun. If there’s a great park or trail you’d recommend, please post a photo and tag @indyclubuoft for us to share it!
Can’t wait till 2021 for the Olympics? Join our Olympic sports themed game of charades this Thursday, Nov 5, 2020 from 6 to 7 PM EST on Zoom (link in bio). One person at a time will be given a sport to act for everyone else to guess (like skribble io, but acting instead of drawing). The first to guess correctly wins! Get ready to have fun and meet fellow Indys!
You deserve a break! Sitting on a chair and staring at a screen all day is tiring, so get up, look away, and move around. Try out these chair exercises, or come up with your own and post it for others to try! Tag us @indyclubuoft so we can share it for your classmates to see.

My portfolio, like a design project, undergoes iterative design cycles to be improved and updated as I learn more and gain new experiences.
I developed this portfolio as a part of the MIE344: Ergonomic Design of Information Systems course. We learned about UX/UI design, and applied those concepts with teamwork, communication, and prototyping skills to design an app and report on the process. I also incorporated these principles and skills to build a website with my team in MIE350: Design and Analysis of Information Systems.
